Buffs Marathon Race Day 25 February 2024

General Information

  1. The marathon starts at o6h00 on the N6, 3km on the Stutterheim side of Macleantown.
  2. The 21km starts at o6h00 at the marathon half-way point (near Python Park).
  3. Both races end at the Buffs Club.
  4. Taxis will shuttle runners from Buffs Club to the start. Cost is R50/runner, paid in CASH to the driver on the day. Taxis start from 4h00.
  5. The cutoff time for both events will be at 12h00 at the finish. All marshals and other support crew will be removed from the route at this time.
  6. Random drug testing may be done which will then result in prize monies only being paid when all tests are confirmed.
  7. Parking will be provided at the club.
  8. Athletes must wear the race number on the front with ASA license showing above. The temporary license goes on the back.
  9. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to Marathon age category winners.
  10.  Gold, Silver and Bronze medals only awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd lady and man in the Half-Marathon.
  11.  Silver medals will be given to marathon runners finishing within 3 hours.
  12.  Finisher medals will be given to all finishers of both races.
  13.  Athletes are required to keep the route clean of litter, and MUST MAKE USE of the supplied waste bins at water points.

  1. All Covid-19 protocols will be observed (if applicable).
  2. Entries are ONLINE ONLY via this website, and close at midnight on Sunday, 18 February 2024.
  3. NO LATE ENTRIES.
  4. Please bring proof of entry and payment to registration (applies to all entries).
  5. No bank deposits or faxed entries will be accepted.
  6. All entrants must collect their race numbers, T-shirt (if applicable), and temporary numbers (if applicable) at registration between 11h00 and 15h00 at Buffs Club on Saturday, 24 Feb 2024 and NOT at the start.

Race Rules

  2. Entries are ONLINE ONLY via this website, and close at midnight on Sunday, 18 February 2024.
  3. NO LATE ENTRIES.
  4. Please bring proof of entry and payment to registration (applies to all entries).
  5. No bank deposits or faxed entries will be accepted.
  6. All entrants must collect their race numbers, T-shirt (if applicable), and temporary numbers (if applicable) at registration between 11h00 and 15h00 at the Buffs Club on Saturday, 24 Feb 2024 and NOT at the start.
  7. Race start time for both the Marathon and Half Marathon is at 06h00 on Sunday 25 February.
  8. The race is run in strict accordance with the rules of the WA, ASA and BA.
  9. The marathon is a qualifier for Two Oceans and Comrades.
  10. All foreign athletes must comply with ASA 2020-2021 rule 23.12
  11.  All marathon participants must be 20 years or older and 16 years or older for the half.
  12.  Athletes are responsible for their own accommodation.
  13.  No animals are allowed on the course.
  14.  No earphones allowed.
  15.  Age category tags must be worn on front and back to qualify for category prizes.
  16. The no mobile seconding rule will be strictly enforced. No seconds may drive, cycle or run alongside any athlete on the route.
  17. The stand and hand rule, whereby an athlete’s seconds may stand within 100 meters on either side of any refreshment station on the route and hand refreshments to their athlete while they remain stationary, will apply.
  18. Seconding may not be conducted directly from a vehicle, whether moving or stationary.
  19. Prizegiving will be held at 12h00 on race day.
  20. No queries will be attended to on race day.
  21. Should the event be cancelled for any reason, no refunds will be offered.
  22. The organisers reserve the right to amed these rules at any time before the race.
